Chop, Chop, Chop…

Since I’ve already touted the dish, I thought I’d call attention to the book. Bee-bim Bop! by Linda Sue Park is a cute picture book that kids just love. It’s got wonderful illustrations and its rhythmic text just flows along.

The little girl in the book wants to help her mother make bi bim bap and each spread goes through the stages of making the dish, as well as some mishaps encountered along the way. At the end of the books is a recipe for the dish. While I haven’t made bi bim bap using this recipe, I’ve heard from others who have that it’s wonderful.

Park has published several books relating to Korean history and/or Korean Americans. Those titles will be featured in future posts, but if you want to jump ahead and check out her other books, you won’t be disappointed.
