Books by Francis and Ginger Park have been already been featured twice in the short life of this blog. And today I chose another book by the sisters; this one The Royal Bee.
The Royal Bee recounts the story of a poor Korean boy named Song-ho who must work while children of wealthier families attend school. Song-ho so wants an education that he listens to the lessons from outside the school and eventually earns his way into the school.
Apparently, this story is again based on a Park family story; it was inspired by the Park sisters’ grandfather’s experiences in late 19th century Korea. I liked how the Song-ho persevered to get the education he wanted and through hard work finds success.
