Blogging about the constitution and government, given Saturday’s Constitution Day holiday, got to me thinking about the Republic of Korea’s government and places to visit that are associated with government. That led me to the idea of touring the Blue House, which is the presidential office and residence of the Republic of Korea.
Cheong Wa Dae (와대), which means “pavilions of the blue roof tiles,” is situated at the base of Mount Bugaksan. The property includes several areas such as the Main Office, a guest house, the Mugunghwa Valley, and the Seven Palaces. The tour takes you to four areas of the property and lasts about an hour.
You must have reservations, which can be made online at the following address: http://english.president.go.kr/tours/cwd_tours/cwd_tours.php
You can read more about the tour on the Korean Tourism site: www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_1_1_1.jsp?cid=264134
