Going Home

While most of us aren’t going to be in Korea for Chuseok, I thought I’d mention this anyway. One place that I feel should be on your list of “places to visit in Korea” is your child’s birth city (assuming you’ve adopted a child from Korea, which I am assuming you have since that’s the target audience for this blog).

Chuseok is one of the Korean holidays in which city-dwellers return to their ancestral homes to honor their ancestors. While most of us don’t know much about our children’s Korean families, I still think a pilgrimage to the child’s birth city is a wonderful experience.

We went to Suwon, where our son was born, during our trip to bring him home. Aside from meeting our son, it was the most amazing part of our trip. Now we can hardly wait to take him to Suwon and explore more of the city with him.
